The Apostille Process
An apostille is an official certificate issued by the UK government (via the FCDO) that authenticates your document for use abroad. If you're working, studying, marrying, buying property, or conducting business in any of the 125+ countries signed up to the Hague Convention, the foreign authority will likely require one before accepting your UK document.
The FCDO can apostille a wide range of UK-issued documents including birth, marriage and death certificates, degree certificates, academic transcripts, police certificates (ACPO/ACRO), powers of attorney, company documents, notarised documents, adoption certificates, and medical records. If your document isn't listed, contact us — chances are we can help.
Some documents — particularly company documents, certified copies, or documents signed by a solicitor — may need to be notarised by a UK notary public before the FCDO will apostille them. We check this as part of our document review and will advise you clearly if notarisation is required before anything is submitted.
Once we receive your document, we typically submit to the FCDO within 1–2 working days. FCDO processing then takes approximately 3–5 working days. Return postage adds a further 1–2 working days. Our Fast Track service prioritises your application for the quickest possible turnaround. Total timescales can vary depending on FCDO workload.
We apostille UK documents for use in any of the 125+ countries signed up to the Hague Convention. If your destination country is not a Hague Convention member, a different process called legalisation is required instead — contact us and we'll advise on your options.
Our Service
We act as your concierge for the apostille process. You complete our online form, pay securely, and post your document to us. We then check your document meets FCDO requirements, handle the entire submission process, and post everything back to you once your apostille certificate is issued. You never have to deal with the FCDO directly.
You can post directly to the FCDO yourself, but there's no document check, no guidance, and if something is wrong you'll wait weeks to find out. We check everything before submission — if there's a problem, we catch it before it wastes your time. We also handle all the paperwork and correspondence so you don't have to.
The FCDO charges a mandatory government fee of £45 per document for issuing an apostille certificate. This is a government fee — not our fee — and applies to every apostille application regardless of who submits it. Our service fee covers everything else: document checking, submission, correspondence, and tracked return postage.
Yes — our sister service NextDay Passport handles urgent UK passport renewals. We attend the HMPO appointment on your behalf so you don't have to travel or take time off work.
Your Documents & Safety
Absolutely. We handle all original documents with the utmost care. We recommend you send your document via tracked or recorded post — and we always return your documents via fully tracked delivery so you know exactly where they are at every stage.
Because we check your document before submitting, rejections are extremely rare. If a rejection does occur due to any error on our part, you'll receive a full refund under our money back guarantee — no questions asked. If your document is found to be ineligible during our initial check, we'll advise you on what's needed before anything is submitted.
In most cases the FCDO requires the original document — certified copies are not always accepted. There are some exceptions depending on the document type. We'll confirm exactly what's needed when you complete our form so there's no confusion.
Pricing & Payment
Our Standard service is £99 + the £45 FCDO fee = £144 total. Our Fast Track service is £149 + £45 = £194 total. Company documents start from £149 + £45 depending on complexity. Klarna is available on all services if you'd prefer to spread the cost.
Yes — Klarna is available at checkout, allowing you to spread the cost over three interest-free instalments. We accept all major credit and debit cards.
If your apostille application is rejected due to any error on our part — whether that's a paperwork mistake, incorrect submission, or missed requirement — we'll refund your service fee in full, no questions asked. We're confident in the quality of our service which is why we offer this guarantee.
